Homeplace

Now silently the lawn recalls
abounding lively romping roiled,
long day until the evening falls.

Sister reveres the sheltering walls,
resting after Dad and mother toiled.
Now silently the lawn recalls.

A teenaged bride, whose first footfalls,
embarked on farming dream unspoiled,
long day until the evening falls.

Young daughter, son, whose memory calls,
the bonds, the growth, as time uncoiled,
Now silently the lawn recalls.

Grandchild, to the homeplace calls,
holidays visits, seldom foiled,
long day, past time the evening falls.

Kaleidoscope, the scene recalls,
memories varied, played or toiled.
Now silently the lawn recalls,
long day until the evening falls.
